NYFW15 : DAY 3/4

Processed with VSCOcam with s2 preset

And just like that, Spring has arrived.

It was only a few weeks ago that I was taking a walk through my neighborhood park after the Tibi show.  It was completely covered in a blanket of snow. And boom, everything has changed. The ice has completely melted, and even now, as I write this, I have my window open enjoying the coolness of the changing air (which has become more appetizing as the days pass). But I will admit, looking back at these photos, as much as the New York winters annoy me, somehow, in some warming and magical way, by its charm and beauty, it has captured my heart once again!

For this outfit I wanted to hang up my collection of oversized coats and bring out something a little more cropped. With that said, I paired it with my new favorite vintage find! An ankle length, high waisted leather skirt. And because I can’t tell you the last time I have styled my hair using curling or straightening devices, I wanted the easy way out, and tucked my hair into my turtle neck. Done, hands free and out of my way.

Goodbye Winter! But before you leave, one last walk in the park together?

Tibi, Oh, Tibi! I totally geeked out when I was invited to this show. I just knew I was in for a treat!

This is not a false alarm, I repeat, Culottes have resurrected from the grave! I owned my first pair of culottes in grade 9. Straight off of Paris Couture runway, maybe you’ve heard of the designer…… Abercrombie and.. bye. But after seeing this collection, I suddenly felt very comfortable sharing that dark secret of mine. Don’t you dare tell a soul!

My fashion icon spotted before the show! Couldn’t resist.

This collection gave me EVER. LASTING. LIFE. Will you allow culottes into your inner circle this fall? I mean, I will! I’m talking BFF status. Whether its done in wool, denim, colored pattern jersey, paired with off-the-shoulder knits and oversized shearling outerwear- dipped in colors such as burgundy, LILAC- can we pause for a second- I love lilac! And yes, I am very aware of what color that is. I’m not afraid anymore! Back to colors- navy, and neutrals tones, you can count on me to dust off the old culottes come fall. False. I’ll at least get an updated version. Come on, guys!

This was my second time to attend this designers show. The first time I attended, I was invited by the hosts of New York Fashion Week; Mercedes Benz, after winning a contest on Instagram. They chose my street style look as the winning look which gave me front row access to this show last September! Was great to be back.

The Photographers pit was NO JOKE! Everyone hustling to get the best shots.

This collection took me to the future! With foiled meshed coats and plastic grid shirt dresses. Though this collection was based on shapes and clean lines, I loved the soft balance that was thrown into the mix. Flourished by femininity with a floral embroidered dress. The extraterrestrial girl goes glam!

Guys. This MAY have been my favorite show of all of New York Fashion Week. Before we get started, you must know that this entire collection was inspired and based off New York City women, specifically women from Woody Allen movies. UM. Hi Annie Hall, it’s me, your biggest  fan! (Insert crying face and waving hand emojis)

You haven’t seen nothing yet. Lam completely left me wide eyed while slowly nodding my head yes. The looks latched on to the 70’s era. Exaggerating every element of every piece. The bold collars, exposed stitching, the buttons, the flares, the coats! The bold colors. Navy, brown, burt orange, neutrals and charcoal with a surprising tough of aqua.

Okay so when can I stuff my tiny shoe box of a closet with every single one of these runway looks? ALSO who wants to watch Annie Hall now? I DO! Thank you Derek Lam for a groovy show and for spoiling me with these timeless looks. I’ve been completely inspired to continue on fulling my duties as a New York City woman with timeless style!

SO that covers day 3 & 4 of NYFW! If you’ve noticed, I decided to combine day 3 & 4 into one post, being that I had less shows to cover and attend for both days, so I thought why not! No rules on Rebeccalaurastyle!

I’ll be cooking up day 5 soon. Unless, life happens. As it usually does. But that’s normally when my best friend Tess sends me a text saying “uhhhh, where’s your day 5?” OH YEAH! My blog. OK on it!
